Taki Haginosuke grew up in Tokyo, the only child of an upper middle class family. He excelled academically but not at much else, shunning Hyoutei's sports clubs in favor of more intellectually and socially stimulating activities. Taki displayed a knack for administrative and public relations work early in school, participating in the student council as secretary and serving as a liasion between the class president and student body. However, despite Taki's social versality, good looks, and charm, he proved to be a rather forgettable individual, frequently fading into the background at council meetings and school functions, and though it bothered him on some level that people continually forgot his name, he was too much of an opportunist - and sensationalist - at heart not to capitalize on it for all it was worth. Between Taki's tendency to disappear into a crowd, his quick wit, he managed to pull more than a few tricks on his peers and get off scot free. After all, it's hard to trace a prank back to someone nobody notices.

This trait came in handy his final year of junior high after his power manifested abruptly and traumatically during a high school entrance exam. The sudden swift intrusion of so many minds into his own left him in shock and it was in that state that Ryuhana found him wandering the streets of Tokyo and took him in. After Taki regained his senses, he took up Ryuhana on their offer of training and a place to stay, convincing his parents that he'd been accepted by a different school, one for gifted individuals, and moved into the dorms.

Hanamura, discovering a young student with talents similar to her own, took Taki under her wing soon after his arrival at Ryuhana and made him her protege. Though technically a student himself, Taki's status as teacher's pet warranted special treatment. Hanamura's specialized instruction, coupled with his own scholastic bent, caused Taki to stay consistently above his peers in terms of academics and by his senior year, he had begun to assist her in class as well.

After graduation, Taki left Ryuhana to attend college with no memorable ties to anyone, save that of his relationship with his teacher. To do this day, Taki considers Hanamura more friend or family than faculty and stays in touch whenever possible.

Taki is a psi-talent - primarily a telepath - with latent telekinetic ability. He can sense thoughts, probe minds, establish communication links, access the astral plane, and most of the traditional abilities associated with telepaths in the X-men universe. The only one that is completely beyond his reach is mind control. Taki possesses neither the concentration nor the strength required to overpower another person's mind (though he can plant suggestions through telepathic means and possess someone through astral projection were he to develop his skills further in that direction). Taki also has the capacity to establish telepathic networks or "party lines" between himself and other people and precognitive telepathy - the ability to sense what a person's state of mind will be like in the future.

Thus far, Taki has been trained toward versatility rather than specialization in any one ability or task. He can do all of the above with equal or near equal skill though no singular ability stands out as being exceptional.

Future: Due to the nature of psi-talents in the X-men universe, Taki's abilities and strength areas are always subject to change. The more he specializes in one ability, the more he detracts from the others. This detraction could be reflected as general instability and ineffectiveness, depletion in strength, etc. However, no matter how Taki's abilities or skills change, he can never exceed his maximum potential (somewhere in the ballpark of Emma Frost, minus the diamond form) in terms of power.
